Good Neighbor Program

Comfort for our community.

Every fall, Tru72 installs heating and cooling systems for a few local households at no cost. No application process, no income test, no paperwork maze. Anyone can nominate a household they know needs it. Our team reviews the nominations and reaches out to the families we can help that year. Same crew, same standard, no bill.

Same Values Since 1972.

A home without heat is a problem we know how to solve.

So we do.

The company that became Tru72 was built in 1972 on a simple belief: do honest work, know your craft, and stand behind your word. For three generations of craftsmen, that belief meant showing up fully for every homeowner, on every job.

Some homeowners are priced out of the comfort that everyone deserves. A broken furnace in a wet Oregon winter is not a minor inconvenience. A failing air conditioner in a Pacific Northwest heat event is a health risk. Tru72 has the crew, the equipment, and the know-how to solve those problems. The Good Neighbor Program is how we put that capability to work for the households that need it most.

No sponsors, no grant applications, no press releases. Just a few installs a year from the same crew that runs every other job.

The same crew. The same standard. No bill.

The standard we hold.

  • Manual J sizing

System sized using Manual J load calculations, the same as any paid job

  • Certified technicians

Installed by Tru72's certified technicians, not volunteers or trainees

  • Commissioned and tested

Commissioned and tested before the crew leaves

  • No reduction in care

No reduction in quality, scope, or care because there's no invoice at the end

  • Never publicized

Selected households are never publicized without explicit consent

How the Good Neighbor Program works.

Three steps. Year-round nominations. Nominations stay open all year. Anyone can submit one. The review happens in the fall, and selected households are contacted directly.

  1. Year-round: nominate a household.

Contact your local Tru72 office to submit a nomination. You can nominate yourself, a family member, a neighbor, or anyone in the community you know needs help. There is no form to fill out, just a call or email to the local team. Nominators are not required to explain their relationship to the household. Any nomination is considered.

  2. Each fall: Tru72 reviews nominations.

Each fall, the Tru72 leadership team reviews every nomination received through the year and identifies the households where a new system would make the biggest difference. Priority goes to households with genuine financial hardship, as well as seniors, veterans, families with young children, and households with someone living with a disability or chronic illness. Selected households are contacted directly. There is no public announcement of recipients.

  3. Fall / winter: we schedule and install.

When a household is selected, Tru72 reaches out to coordinate directly with the family. The crew schedules the install, right-sizes the system using Manual J load calculations, completes the installation to the same standard as any paid job, and commissions the equipment before leaving. No cost to the family. No paperwork after selection. The install is a gift, not a loan or grant.

A home without heat is a problem we know how to fix. When we can fix it, we do.

Tru72 Heating & Cooling. Same Values Since 1972.

Broad eligibility. No income cutoff.

If you know a household that needs help, nominate them.

  • Homeowners and renters

Both homeowners and renters can be nominated. When a renter is selected, Tru72 coordinates directly with the landlord to confirm permission before scheduling the install.

  • Financial hardship

Households experiencing genuine financial hardship around HVAC repair or replacement receive priority consideration. There is no formal income test or verification form.

  • Seniors and veterans

Older adults and veterans who need reliable heating or cooling receive priority. A system failure in extreme weather is a serious risk for older households, and we take that seriously.

  • Families with children or medical needs

Households with young children or someone living with a disability or chronic illness receive priority. Reliable climate control is not a luxury when health is a factor.

  • Who can submit a nomination

Anyone can nominate a household. Self-nominations are welcome. You can nominate a family member, a neighbor, a coworker, a congregation member, or anyone you know through your community. Submit a separate nomination for each household so the team can review each on its own merits. Nominations submitted after the fall review roll forward to the following year.

Each location runs the program for its own service area.

Service area.

The Good Neighbor Program operates independently through each Tru72 location. Portland-area nominations are handled by the Lake Oswego office, which serves the Portland metro and Southwest Washington. Albany nominations are handled by the Albany office, which serves the Mid-Willamette Valley.

Questions about the program.

Plain answers.

Who can be nominated for the Good Neighbor Program?

Anyone living in our Oregon or Southwest Washington service area can be nominated. Homeowners and renters are both eligible (we coordinate with the landlord when a renter is selected). Priority is given to households experiencing genuine financial hardship around HVAC repair or replacement, and to seniors, veterans, families with young children, and households with someone living with a disability or chronic illness.

Who can submit a nomination?

Anyone. Nominate yourself, a family member, a neighbor, or someone you know through your community. There is no form to fill out. Contact your local Tru72 office by phone or email to submit a nomination. Nominations stay open year-round.

When are recipients selected?

Each fall, the Tru72 leadership team reviews every nomination received that year and looks for households where a new system would make the biggest difference. Selected households are contacted directly. There is no public announcement of recipients. Nominations submitted after the fall review roll forward to the following year.

What does a selected household receive?

Tru72 installs a right-sized heating and cooling system at no cost to the family. The same crew that runs paid jobs completes the install. The system is sized using Manual J load calculations, installed to the same diagnostic-first standard, and commissioned before the crew leaves. No cost to the family. No ongoing obligation.

Is there a deadline to submit a nomination?

Nominations stay open year-round. The review happens each fall, so nominations submitted by late summer are considered for that year's installs. Nominations submitted later roll forward into the following year's review. There is no advantage to waiting, so submit whenever you're ready.

Does the household need to live in Tru72's service area?

Yes. The program runs through each Tru72 location for its own service area.

Know a neighbor who needs this?

A nomination takes five minutes. Nominations are open year-round. If you know a household in our service area that is struggling with a broken or failing HVAC system, submit their name to your local Tru72 team. We review every nomination every fall and reach out directly to families we can help.

Clean. Quality. Comfort.
