Every fall, Tru72 installs heating and cooling systems for a few local households at no cost to the families selected. No application process, no income test, no paperwork maze. Nominations stay open year-round.
Anyone can nominate. Yourself, a family member, a neighbor, someone you know through your community.
The idea is simple.
Why we do this.
The company that became Tru72 was built in 1972 on a simple belief: do honest work, know your craft, and stand behind your word. For three generations of craftsmen, that belief meant showing up fully for every homeowner, on every job.
A broken furnace in a wet Oregon winter is not a minor inconvenience. A failing air conditioner in a Pacific Northwest heat event is a health risk. Some households are priced out of solving it.
Same crew. Same standard. No bill.

Nominate
Anyone can submit a nomination, year-round. Yourself, a family member, a neighbor, someone you know through your community. Contact your local Tru72 office.
Review
Each fall, the Tru72 leadership team reads every nomination received that year and looks for the households where a new system would make the biggest difference.
Install
The household is contacted directly. We schedule, install the right-sized system, and commission it before we leave. No cost.
How households are chosen. Plainly.
Broad eligibility. No income cutoff. Priority goes to households where the system has failed and a fix isn't financially possible.
Both can be nominated. When a renter is selected, Tru72 coordinates directly with the landlord to confirm permission before scheduling the install.
Households experiencing genuine financial hardship around HVAC repair or replacement receive priority. There is no formal income test or verification form.
A system failure in extreme weather is a serious risk for older households, and we take that seriously.
Households with young children or someone living with a disability or chronic illness receive priority. Reliable climate control is not a luxury when health is a factor.
Anyone. Self-nominations are welcome. Submit a separate nomination for each household so the team can review each on its own merits.
Each Tru72 location runs the program for its own service area. Portland-area nominations go to the Lake Oswego office; Albany nominations go to the Albany office.
The standard we hold
Same crew. Same standard. No bill.
Manual J sized · Certified technicians · Commissioned
The system is sized using Manual J load calculations, installed by Tru72's certified technicians rather than volunteers or trainees, and commissioned and tested before the crew leaves. No reduction in quality, scope or care because there's no invoice at the end.
Selected households are never publicized without explicit consent. No sponsors, no grant applications, no press releases.

A nomination takes five minutes and they stay open year-round. If you know a household in our service area struggling with a broken or failing HVAC system, submit their name to your local Tru72 team. The work is the same standard we hold every paid job to. The only difference is the invoice.
